You may have a hard time choosing a job in a company that truly matches your vision for success. Or, your dream job may not exist yet in the business you have imagined. You may even wonder if you should stay in a company that does not seem to be working for you. How can you know which path is the right one for you?
Visualize the logo of an organization or brand that you admire. Now, consider three words that you associate with this brand. When people think of you or your business, you desire people picturing certain characteristics. However, in order for you to really make a difference or create long-term change, you must be intentional about setting out who you are and what you do in terms of your values and beliefs system.
Imagine yourself in the shoes of one of the most successful entrepreneurs you’ve ever known. What is it that drew you to that business? Why do you feel strongly about following the advice and the principles of what it stands for? The answers may surprise you and they will give you insight into how to be truly successful in your own business.
Many business owners have set out on their own journeys, but they have not found themselves becoming true to their vision. They have not imagined themselves as business growth consultants, instead they have seen themselves merely as people who are incredibly passionate about their business. Often these entrepreneurs do not understand how important their beliefs and principles are. They fail to see that their personal creative work efforts become a major part of who they are and their success as well. They fail to grow without a core belief system.
People who are truly passionate about what they believe and are living by their principles, often find themselves feeling good about themselves every single day. They don’t feel bad about making money or about the state of their business. They actually enjoy what they’re doing and they do not feel guilty about their results. Someone else may say they don’t feel good about their life, but when you ask them if they believe they are a great person or great at what they do, they would say yes.
So, can you really make changes to your business without changing who you are? I’m sure you can but you have to ask yourself why you want to. Do you think that staying true to yourself is more important than being true to others? Do you feel like your actions speak louder than your words? Do you really want to impact other people’s lives through your business decisions?
It seems like staying true to yourself is very difficult. You must convince yourself over again that what you are doing is important. Otherwise, there will be no incentive for you to continue with it. One of my favorite methods that I use is to use my inner voice. Every time I have a question or issue in my business, I record it on my phone and then play it back in my head while I’m listening to my inner voice to make me feel better.
